SIBU: Saying your piece, no matter how well-intentioned, can lead to disastrous circumstances sometimes. A 23-year-old man found that out the hard way.

He was bloodied after getting a clubbing by his irate brother-in-law whom he had cautioned for treating his sister cruelly.

The attack took place at Jalan Kampung Nangka at about 5pm on Nov 13 and police are now looking for the 32-year-old assailant.

Acting district police chief Supt Collin Babat said the incident unfolded when the assailant stopped the younger man and his wife as they were heading to her mother’s house at Kampung Bahagia Jaya on a motorcycle.

“The suspect then started to hit the back of the 23-year-old’s head with a stick.

“After the beating, the victim, with blood dripping from his head, and his wife went to the Sungai Merah police station to lodge a police report before seeking treatment,” he said.

Collin said the suspect had attacked his wife’s brother in anger after he was told not to be cruel to her.
