KUCHING: Affin Bank Berhad will expand its footprint with a new branch in Lawas, a move discussed during a recent courtesy visit by the bank’s president and group chief executive officer, Datuk Wan Razly Abdullah Bin Wan Ali, to the Regional Corridor Development Authority (RECODA).

In a statement on RECODA’s Facebook page, CEO Datuk Ismawi Ismuni welcomed the bank’s decision.

“This is a good move, especially considering the mega projects to be launched in the Northern Region Development Agency (NRDA) area,” he said.

Key among these projects is the proposed Northern Coastal Highway (NCH), aimed at enhancing road connectivity and boosting transportation and logistics in a region bordering Sabah, Brunei, and Indonesia.

Additionally, plans for a new Lawas Airport, with a 1,790-meter runway capable of accommodating ATR 72 aircraft, and the proposed Lawas Deep Sea Port Complex, intended to bolster the petrochemical industry, are underway.

The visit also included a tour of RECODA’s gallery, led by Ismawi, showcasing the milestones of the development authority.
