KUCHING: An afternoon fire at Kpg Tambirat Hilir, Jalan Asajaya, Kota Samarahan yesterday left a family of six homeless.
In the 3.49pm fire incident, six members of the family comprising three males and three females managed to escape unhurt but their house was completely razed to the ground.
A neighbouring residence which also housed a family of six was about 15 per cent burnt. Firemen from Kota Samarahan were despatched to the scene and managed to put the fire under control by 4.08pm, thus preventing it from spreading further.
The Fire and Rescue Department is in the process of investigating the cause or causes of the fire and losses involved.
