SIBU: Age is not going to keep Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) president Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh from the coming state polls.

Wong, now 77, said he would contest in the N.53 Bawang Assan constituency seat using the PSB logo.

“I will be contesting in the PRN12, which will be held soon. But this time I am not contesting as a GPS (Gabungan Parti Sarawak) candidate.

“I will be using the PSB logo,” he said when speaking at a meet-the-people session at Rumah Mador Rendah, Sungai Rassau on Sunday.

According to Wong, Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who is 94 years old, was still capable of becoming Prime Minister.

“Age will not be a hindrance because I am still healthy and strong. I can still serve Bawang Assan for years to come.”

As a PSB candidate, he said his opponents would be candidates from GPS as well as Pakatan Harapan.

Wong hoped voters in Bawang Assan would continue to support him.

“I have made every effort to allocate much for development such as roads, bridges, water, electricity and so on.”

At the same event, Wong also officiated an earth-breaking ceremony for the construction of electric poles under the Rural Electricity Scheme (RES) for the Sungai Rassau area.

The project costing RM5.05 million will benefit 184 doors in nine longhouses and is expected to be completed by April 2020.
