Agency gets RM1.5b to develop nine constituencies

KUCHING: The Sarawak government has allocated RM1.5 billion to the Greater Kuching Development Coordination Agency (GKCDA).

Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Roland Sagah said the funds are meant for various developments in nine constituencies in Kuching and Serian.

The nine constituencies are Tanjung Datu, Opar, Tasik Biru, Serembu, Mambong, Tarat, Tebedu, Bukit Semuja and Kedup.

“GKCDA is one of the Sarawak government’s strategies to speed up development in the state, especially involving Kuching and Serian,” he was quoted as saying in a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) report.

Sagah, who is also GKCDA chairman said this when officiating at the ‘Tarat Mini Lab – GKCDA’ held here on Sunday (Jan 29).

Also present were Serian Resident Selamat Jati Yanjah, GKCDA chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Ik Pahon Joyik, political secretary to the Premier Damen Rejek and others.

The Tarat assemblyman said the mini lab is held to gather ideas and views to ensure a more integrated effort for strategic development in the constituency.

The participants involved were federal and state government departments or agencies in Serian Division, councillors, community leaders from Tarat constituency as well as exco members, women and youth members of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Tarat branch.
