BATANG LUPAR: The newly-established Betong Integrated Development Agency (BIDA) will boost the planned development in the Betong Division, said Batang Lupas MP Datuk Rohani Abdul Karim.

Hence, she called on the local community and tribal leaders (KMKK) to play their role in helping BIDA plan the facilities and needs of the people in Betong as well as in Pusa Districts.

“Aside from the roles of the KMKK, for the community’s part, I would also like to urge you to maintain and preserve the customs and cultures so that these are perpetuated for future generations.

“Furthermore, our customs and cultures can be used to attract tourists while promoting Sarawak as a state which has various ethnicities, races and religions globally,” she added.

She was officiating at a Ngiling Tikai Gawai at Rumah Bunsi, Munggu Ruan Muton here on Sunday (June 26).

Beting Maro assemblyman Razaili Gapor, who also spoke at the event, expressed his gratitude to the community for giving a mandate to the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) in the last state election.

“The people in Sarawak made the right choice to ensure that our political environment is stable to ensure smooth implementation of developments planned under the leadership of our Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

“He is a far-sighted leader and has brought a lot of development to the State in terms of basic facilities as evidenced in the Beting Maro area,” he said.
