MIRI: A 47-year-old man from Kampung Kejapil, Bekenu, landed himself in trouble with the law for throwing obscenities and injuring two policemen on Saturday.
The suspect used a slingshot to attack the police who came to his house around 2.10pm.
“He began shooting pebbles using the slingshot at the policemen when they were questioning him over a domestic violence case,” said Miri Police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah today.
Not only did he attacked and cursed the policemen using obscene language, he also threatened them with a machete.
“The police knocked on the door several times and asked the suspect to surrender himself, but he refused. Instead, he kept on cursing and threatened my men with a parang,” said Lim.
The suspect’s stubbornness forced the police to barge in and they eventually managed to subdue the aggressive man.
During the arrest, police seized four machetes, a slingshot, several pebbles and two handphones.
The case is being investigated under Section 353 of the Penal Code for assault and using force with intent to prevent a public servant from discharging his duty and 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means.
