KUCHING: One hundred and seventy three residents in Sarikei have benefitted from the state government’s Agriculture Facilitation Funds (AFF) programme.
Urban Development and Natural Resources Assistant Minister Datuk Len Talif Salleh revealed this in a Facebook post on Friday (July 16).
He said almost RM600,000 had been allocated to the constituency in AFF.
“This was allocated by the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) state government through the Sarawak Land Development Board (SDLB) and implemented by the Agriculture Department.
Earlier, the Kuala Rajang assemblyman presented electrical equipment and agricultural tools to 13 Sarikei residents at the Sarikei District Agriculture Office.
Len said more than RM100,000 in allocation was distributed through the Start Project Incentive programme which involved 24 women entrepreneurs from the Tanjung Manis zone.
“The balance will be distributed in the near future after going through an open tender process that has been handled by the Department of Agriculture,” he said.
The assistant minister said his team had received many applications for the funds and 221 applications from both the Sarikei and Tanjung Manis zones had been approved based on the criteria, terms and conditions set by the Department of Agriculture.
“For those whose applications are not approved in this phase, I will work on their applications in the next phase.
“It is my hope that the programme can be implemented immediately,” he said.
Also present during the presentation were Sarikei District Agriculture Officer Rainy Yaman and Sarikei Division Assistant Agriculture Officer Ridzuan Abdullah.
