LAWAS: The agriculture, livestock and fisheries sectors will be given focus by the state government towards developing the state, says Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.

According to a report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), he said this was also to reduce the development gap and income disparity as well as increase the income of the community, especially those from the B40 group, many of whom had lost their jobs and had their businesses impacted.

“In the Sarawak government’s planning, among the sectors which will be focused on are the agriculture, livestock and fisheries sectors.

“This will make Sarawak an exporter of foodstuff. In addition, this would attract investors from within and outside the country to develop our agriculture sector commercially and help the community involved in this sector.”

Awang Tengah, who is also Minister of International Trade and Industry, Industrial Terminal and Entrepreneur Development and Second Minister of Urban Development and Natural Resources, said this at the Agriculture Community Outreach Programme (Agricop) and Peladang Prihatin Sarawak programme at Kampung Sualai on Sunday (Nov 14).
