KUCHING: Agrobank handed over a cheque for RM275,626.57 as payment of business zakat for 2021 to Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS) on Friday (Aug 19).
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg witnessed the presentation made by Agrobank chairman Datuk Mustapha Buang to Sarawak Islamic Council (SIC) chairman Datuk Misnu Taha.
“We hope that this zakat will have a positive impact on the socioeconomic development in Sarawak, especially students, the poor and the community under the supervision of TBS,” said Agrobank chief executive officer Tengku Ahmad Badli Shah Raja Hussin.
As a development finance institution with a focus on developing the agriculture and agro-food sector, he said Agrobank was committed to fulfilling its social responsibilities, which is line with its ‘Empowering Agriculture Beyond Banking’ vision so that the wellbeing of less fortunate is looked after.
