KUCHING: A team of observers has been formed to monitor the aid distribution in the Nangka constituency.

Education, Science and Technological Research Assistant Minister Dr Annuar Rapaee said the service centre is currently recruiting volunteers to be part of the team.

“The objective of the formation of this monitoring team is to check and balance the distribution of assistance and inform the elected representative or the authorities if there are any irregular practices in the process.

“This also allows the team to inform the welfare workers if there are individuals who should be receiving the assistance but are missing out on it,” he said in a Facebook post today.

Dr Annuar said the formation of the team is crucial to uphold transparency as well as prevent any baseless allegations from irresponsible quarters on the distribution of the assistance.

“I hope that with the formation of this team, it will allow a better and more structured aid distribution to the residents.

“I appeal to the public to come forward and lend their hand through the correct means,” he said.

On Saturday, the Nangka assemblyman said that distribution of food supply to households in the constituency is still ongoing.

“Thank you to those distributing the assistance on the ground for their commitment and empathy to the fellow residents in Nangka,” he said.
