KUCHING: Hope Place recently came to the aid of a woman known as Timah, 59, who needed urgent assistance for her bedridden daughter and four young grandchildren.

Timah’s daughter, Dyg Hasni Awang Selan, 31, is bedridden due to Tuberculous Meningitis which affected her lungs and brain. She contracted this disease from her late husband, who passed away of the same disease a few months ago.

She has four children, aged between 10 and 14 years old. The family lives in a rented house in Kpg Astana here.

Timah is now the only one taking care of the whole family and struggles financially.

She told the Hope Place team that from time to time, she would carry Dyg Hasni on her back from her room to the front of their house when they needed to visit the hospital for check-ups.

She would call for a Grab car, which costs her about RM20 for a round trip.

However, she is grateful as her relatives and sisters do assist her a little with finances as neither she nor her daughter has any income of their own.

Hope Place is supplying Dyg Hasni with adult diapers and special milk powder, as well as providing the family with some basic food aid.
