KUCHING: The ‘stay at home’ Lunar New Year due to movement control order (MCO) 2.0 did not stop MagnumCares from continuing to spread festive cheers.

MagnumCares distributed face masks, food necessities and provided financial assistance to more than 13,500 residents in 230 charitable homes nationwide under the new normal practices.

“Despite the many challenges faced by everyone in Malaysia, wherever Magnum can, Magnum will continue to render help and reach out to those underserved members of the Community.

“We understand the challenges that everyone is facing and we will always try to find new and effective solutions to help them endure this difficult situation.

“I hope that the community will constantly check on their family, friends and neighbours who are alone during this festive season and extend their greetings to help them cheer up,” said Magnum Group CSR head Beh Swan Swan.

Magnum Group has contributed more than RM2.5 million in 2020 as aid to the community to ease their burden during the pandemic.

“This MagnumCares spirit of caring for the community in line with our tagline, ‘For you, with you’, in 2020, we helped different communities by providing financial aid such as supporting single mums to sew 4,000 PPEs for the frontliners, donated health equipment (ventilators) to hospitals, donated to non-government organisation (NGO) centres to be better equipped and able to self-sustain their own livelihood along with providing financial aid to students in need and we also helped the Orang Asli villagers to install basic lighting in their homes,” they said in a statement.

The assistance given by Magnum Group together with several non-profit organisations have benefited more than 27,000 people from different groups of underserved communities and more than 5,000 students nationwide.
