Aidilfitri do draws 2,300, prominent leaders

SIBU: The Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and his wife, Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, attended the Majlis Ramah Tamah Aidilfitri Bahagian Sibu here last night (April 13).

They were accompanied by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, and his wife, Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang.

Approximately 2,300 participants from various backgrounds attended the ceremony at the Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud Chancellor’s Hall, University of Technology Sarawak (UTS).

The event was organised by the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Nangka Service Centre in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri, with the Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation, and Talent Development, Datuk Dr. Annuar Rapaee, as the organising chairman.

Also seen were Federal Works Minister, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, Tourism, Arts, and Culture Minister, Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, and Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Minister, Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, along with his wife, Datin Seri Zuraini Abdul Jabbar.

Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing, and Local Government, Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee, Chief Political Secretary to the Premier, Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman, Bukit Assek assemblyman Chieng Jin Ek, and Daro assemblyman Safiee Ahmad were also present.

Earlier, Wan Junaidi and his wife visited the Raya open houses of several prominent figures here.

These visits included Dr. Annuar’s residence at Jalang Kangkong, former Igan MP Datuk Seri Wahab Dolah’s house at Kampung Nangka, and Temenggong Datuk Wan Hamid Edruce’s home at Jalan Jasmin.

Accompanying them were Tiang, Chieng, and Sibu Resident Datuk Wong Hee Sieng.
