KUCHING: The Miri Hakka Association together with Hakka Youth Section donated 12 electric drum pumps (20 litres) and electric spray blowers to the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Zone 6 to assist in sanitisation efforts.

Transport Minister Datuk Lee Kim Shin who is also the association’s president handed over the contributions to Miri Zone 6 fire chief Supt Law Poh Kiong at the Lopeng fire station recently.

“Firefighters need to do sanitisation work at over 12 places every day, such as at the vaccination centres (PPVs).

“Their task is time-consuming as sanitation works are not carried out in public areas, hotels, or for public transportation,” he said

He pointed out that firefighters previously used manual sprayers and now with the electric drum pumps and electric spray blowers, sanitisation work will be easier for them.

On the other hand, Miri Hakka Association chairman Liew Han Ping also expressed his concern for the safety of frontline who work tirelessly to curb the virus from spreading.
