KOTA SAMARAHAN: Norshiella Suip, 31, is an entrepreneur who takes pleasure in running her business.

“I started my business in October 2019 in front of my house,” she said, adding it made sense to do so.

“I started selling ‘Air Balang Menoess’ to have fun and explore the world of selling,” she told New Sarawak Tribune.

“I used to work as a sales girl selling Coway products, but it was short-lived,” she said, adding, “I decided to explore a new experience and the drink business seemed to be the right fit for me.”

She produced this drink product in her belief that it would be a popular drink.

The business has since caught the attention of the community residing in Kota Samarahan.

She advertises her business on social media platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp, and TikTok as well as relies on word of mouth.

“I had reservations about starting this business. However, with my sincere intentions, God has provided assistance and facilitated all sales-related issues,” she said.

“I sell ‘Air Balang Menoess’ from 10 am to 6 pm every day and my husband assists me in this business,” she said, adding her profit-margin though meagre is enough to keep her going.

Her business is located in front of the Asma Cake House Hq at Taman Desa Ilmu, Kota Samarahan.

“Despite only selling drinks by the roadside, I guarantee that both the appearance and taste of the beverages are on par with renowned brands,” she said.

Norsheilla has developed her own approach to compete in the multi-flavoured drink industry.

“During the Covid-19 pandemic, the main difficulty we faced as a business was being stuck due to the Movement Control Order (MCO),” she said.

During those years, there were ups and downs, particularly with the rising cost of living.

She used to sell various goods as a drop shipper before exclusively selling Air Balang Menoess from the roadside.

“The prices of my items start at RM4 for a small cup and RM5 for a large cup. Every Friday, we run special promotions on drinks. Drinks priced at RM5 are reduced to RM4 per cup, and drinks priced at RM4 are reduced to RM3 per cup. This promotion is only valid on Fridays,” she said.
