MIRI: Air travellers were satisfied with public compliance of the new standard operating procedures (SOPs) at the Miri Airport after the resumption of domestic flights to the state.

Minister of Transport, Datuk Lee Kim Shin revealed this during a visit to the airport today.

“All Malaysians who return from abroad will undergo mandatory quarantine for 14 days at quarantine centres provided by the state government.

“The Covid-19 test will be taken twice — on the second and 10th day. The cost of quarantine accommodation and the cost of the Covid-19 test for Sarawakians will be paid by the state government.

“However, for non-Sarawakians (Malaysians from Peninsula Malaysia, Sabah, Labuan and non-citizens), they will have to pay for their own quarantine and Covid-19 test costs,” he said.

Also present during Lee’s visit were Miri District Acting Resident cum chairman of Miri District SDMC, Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusuf; Miri District Health Officer, Dr. P. Raviwharmman; Malaysia Civil DefenseForce (APM), Immigration Department Miri, Miri District Resident Office, Miri District Health Department, Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) and Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM).
