SIBU:  Dengue outbreak in Sibu is alarming as in February alone, the area here recorded 17 dengue cases.

Chairman of Sibu Rural District Council, Sempurai Petrus Ngelai said in February this year, Sibu recorded 17 dengue cases while 13 dengue cases were recorded in Selangau.

“The number of dengue cases in Sibu is quite high in February. Thus, we intensified various campaigns and activities, whereby this week, the council will organise gotong-royong or mutual assist activities as an effort to overcome the dengue outbreak,” he told reporters at a press conference after SRDC full council meeting held at SRDC office here yesterday.

Also present were deputy chairman of SRDC, Councilor Robert Lau and Councillor Ho Kok Munting @ Munting Eja.

Sempurai therefore hoped that public members are fully aware of the dengue outbreak.

He called on the public to work together with the council as an effort to overcome the problem.
