KUCHING: All nurseries (taska) and kindergartens (tadika), which resumed operations during the current recovery movement control order (RMCO) period, are complying well with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) set by the government.

Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said her ministry and related authorities had conducted inspections from time to time to ensure SOP compliance at the premises.

“To date, we have seen very strict compliance to the SOPs by the taska and tadika operators, as well as the teachers, children and parents when they are on the premises.

“From what we observed, if you put a cross there, the children won’t sit there. If you put a line there, they will stand there.

“I think we must not underestimate the ability of the young children to obey the orders and instructions from their teachers,” she said.

Fatimah was asked at a press conference held at Baitulmakmur building here on Monday (July 6) whether any premises had been ordered to close down for failing to comply with the SOPs.

She also mentioned that all 236 taska statewide resumed their operations on July 1.

She added a total of 2,385 out of 2,865 tadika statewide or 83.4 percent had resumed operations on the same date.

Of the 480 tadika which had yet to open, 461 (16.09 percent) would start operating on July 15 while 19 of them (0.67 percent) would reopen on July 20.
