KUCHING:  Ramadan Bazaar visitors at Medan Niaga Satok here were all smiles when they were treated to “bubur pedas” (traditional porridge dish for Malays).

Federal Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Datuk Salahuddin Ayub distributed 500 packets of “bubur pedas” to the public, here yesterday.

Khairun Nisa, 21, and her sister, Nur Eelham,10, received two packets of the porridge.

“I heard someone calling me and offering me the porridge,” said Khairun.

“It’s a lucky day for both of us because my sister loves ‘bubur pedas’ so much!” she said.

Another recipient, Abdul Rahman, 33, who sells food at the bazaar, said “bubur pedas” was one of his favourite dishes when breaking fast.

“I love the taste and that’s why every time they distribute ‘bubur pedas’, I am not embarrassed to ask for it,” he said.

Organised by the Sarawak Federal Agriculture Marketing Authority (Fama), the programme was held in conjunction with Salahuddin’s official visit to Medan Niaga Satok and the breaking of fast programme with Fama entrepreneurs.
