All Urda projects rolled out

Date:

KANOWIT: All infrastructure projects planned for Upper Rajang in the last two years have been rolled out and currently under implementation.

Kapit MP Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the projects had been planned using a bottom-up approach – the community was consulted on what projects they need instead of having unnecessary ones given to them.

“Through the Upper Rajang Development Agency (Urda), a total of RM1.5 billion was allocated, to be used within two years to develop the area.”

He said this at the launch of Nanga Machan Agriculture office here today. Nanta also said that the funds given by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg were leaps and bounds above the allocation from the federal government.

“Previously, in five years, Kapit was only given RM400 million (by the federal government) and now we are receiving nearly RM2b to be used within two years. This is what we have to work with.”

“This is indeed a game changer and it is not only simply talk,” Nanta, who is also Urda deputy chairman, said.

On the upcoming state election, the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu and Gabungan Parti Sarawak secretary-general said the people of Machan must return the mandate to incumbent assemblyman Allan Siden Gramong.

“We must ensure Allan wins big in the state election. We must not throw this chance away and we must lend our support to him.”
