BINTULU: Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman) Datuk Talib Zulpilip has slammed allegations by some quarters that the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) funds went into the personal accounts of elected representatives either at the parliament or state legislative assembly (DUN) level.

Describing the allegation as “untrue and irresponsible”, he explained that every allocation or fund involving government money will follow the standard operating procedure (SOP) and conditions set by the Sarawak government with the Divisional Resident Office being responsible in all related matters.

“The SOP used really outlines the value of integrity as it involves government allocations and money. Thus the allocation will be utilised in accordance with the law,” he said.

He said this when speaking at a dinner with Sarawak Ombudsman Committee (JONS) delegation at a local hotel here on Friday.

Talib, who is also the Jepak assemblyman, stressed that sincerity should be practiced in every department to increase the public’s trust in the agency.

Amongst those present were Sarawak Integrity and Ombudsman Unit director Adana Jed; Internal Audit Unit director Toieyah Tioh; Bintulu deputy resident Hussaini Hakim; Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) general manager Muhamad Yakup Kari; Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Sarawak deputy director Othman Aryan; and Sarawak State Audit Department director’s representative Thomas Paul Bilun.
