BAU: Fire destroyed a newly constructed homestay facility at Kampung Daun in Singgai here last Saturday (Aug 22).
According to the fire department’s operations centre, the incident is believed to have occurred early in the morning although the distress call was received around 2.50pm.
A team of firemen deployed from Bau fire station found the homestay already destroyed when they arrived.
Further inspection around the area found elements of alleged arson.
According to the owner, the homestay had just been constructed and had not been opened to customers.
The fire did not claim any human casualty.
Firemen at the scene gathered witness’ information for the purpose of their investigation which will be carried out by the Kuching Zone Investigation Team.
