KUCHING: Members of St. John Ambulance Sarawak (SJAS) should uphold their high moral, integrity and ethical values in providing their services to the society.

According to chairman of St. John Ambulance Sarawak, Dato Sri Ang Lai soon, SJAS’s officers and members can and do set examples of integrity in effort to eschew dishonesty in all forms.

“By upholding and esteeming these values, we as SJAS members are making another valuable contribution to the good of our society, in addition to our individual roles in this humanitarian organisation.

“As well as carrying those values and standards into every aspect of our many roles in society, whether at the family level, as an employee, and employer, a follower, or also a leader,” said Dato Sri Ang in his speech when officiating at the closing ceremony of St. John Ambulance Sarawak First Aid and Home Nursuing Competition 2017 held at SJAS headquarters at Jalan Laksamana Cheng Ho here, yesterday.

He added that all officers and members have to bear in mind that respect and trust have to be earned.

Dato Sri Ang noted that if a person cannot be trusted in his/her life, then he/she might find it difficult to be accepted by the people or society.

“You earn the respect of your peers and society if you are honest, trustworthy, courteous, reasonable, considerate, and responsible person, fair and just, and above all, a moan of honour, integrity and principles,” he said, adding that there is unfortunately no known short cut to genuine success and true happiness in a decent society.
