Almost all Covid-19 cases in Category 1 and 2

KUCHING: Sarawak recorded 134 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday (April 23), bringing the cumulative total number of cases to 304,708.

In its daily update the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC)  disclosed that 133 cases were in Category 1 and 2.

Kuching recorded the highest number of cases with 38 followed by Miri (24); Bintulu (17) Sibu (12) and Subis (5).

Four cases each were reported in Asajaya, Mukah and Pusa, three cases in Samarahan and Limbang, two cases in Sarikei, Sri Aman, Kanowit Kapit and Saratok.

And there was one case each in Serian, Betong, Bau, Lubok Antu, Dalat, Lundu, Kabong, Julau, Pakan and Meradong, the committee said.

On another note, SDMC said that one COVID-19-related death was reported on the same day.

It said the death recorded on April 21, involved an 85-year-old woman from Kuching who had  high blood pressure, dyslipidemia and heart disease. She passed away at the Sarawak General Hospital.

Meanwhile, SDMC added that there is no new COVID-19 cluster.

In terms of non-compliance to the standard operating procedures (SOPs), Kuching police also issued compound notices to six individuals for failing to register the MySejahtera before entering premises.

This brings the total number of compounds issued by Sarawak police to 13,898.
