MIRI: Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin has reminded the younger generation to always respect their elders.
“Respecting your elders is not only emphasised in Chinese culture but also in the culture of other races,” said the Sarawak Minister for Transport.
“Our elders have a lot of experience, knowledge and have seen a lot in their life,” stressed Lee as reported by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS).
“Their contributions and sacrifices need to be appreciated and given recognition,” he said at the Miri Teochew Chinese New Year do recently.
Also present were Sarawak Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew; and Miri Teowchew Association chairman Chai Zuo Yin.
