SIBU: A political analyst is impressed with Gabungan Parti Sarawak’s (GPS) candidate line-up for the 15th general election (GE15).

Datuk Peter Minos noted that the coalition is fielding an impressive array candidates – both veterans and newbies.

“ GPS believes in grooming future leaders and this is vital for continuity.

“Giving chances to women. That is wise. Those who are able and willing, why not? It is now a global trend,” he told New Sarawak Tribune yesterday (Nov 3).

GPS is fielding four women candidates this time, namely Datuk Sri Nancy Shukri who replaces Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) strongman Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar in Santubong; Rubiah Wang (Kota Samarahan), Rodiyah Sapiee (Batang Sadong), and Doris Sophie Brodie (Sri Aman).

An optimistic Minos said GPS may win all 31 seats or something close to it.

“It is able and capable of looking after Sarawak and its people. Developing it, defending it, and safeguarding it. Besides, GPS is united and well-led. Its leaders are mature and responsible and Sarawakians are impressed.

“And look at the other side, DAP is full of those who can only criticise and lash out at others. Nothing positive and good. Easy to ‘hasut’ but not easy to get things done.

“Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) on the other hand consists of those who are angry with the world and only seeking to avenge. Sarawakians cannot trust them to rule Sarawak. They are not responsible and reliable,” he said.
