KUCHING: The joy and merriment of the Chinese New Year celebration continues despite the ongoing movement restrictions due to Covid-19.
For Batang Lupar constituents, ‘ang pow’ were distributed to the elderly while mandarin oranges were given to the households.
“My representatives in the three state constituencies under Batang Lupar presented contribution of mandarin oranges. The elderly received ‘ang pow’,” MP Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim said in a Facebook post today (Feb 13).
She said for Beting Maro, the distribution of the goodies was conducted at Pusa and Kampung Pasar Pusa. A total of 67 household heads and 30 elderly people benefitted from the contribution.
“For Lingga, a total of 18 household heads and 19 senior citizens in Pasar Maludam and Kampung Seberang Maludam received the contribution.
“Meanwhile, 18 household heads and 24 senior citizens in Pasar Lingga and the surrounding area also benefitted,” she said.
Rohani said for Sebuyau, 75 household heads and 69 senior citizens in Sebangan and Sebuyau benefited from the constribution.
“I call on all to continue to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) that have been outlined.
“We do not want new clusters to occur due to noncompliance. We have not won yet and let us fight this Covid-19 together,” she said.
