KUCHING: The Panggau Dayak Towers is set to become another significant landmark at Jalan Ong Tiang Swee here once completed in 2022, said its general manager Allister Hilton Smith.

He said the nine-storey office towers of the Dayak Cultural Foundation (DCF) and Dayak Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) would sit on a 2.05-ha plot with each tower having its own set of facilities.

He said this during the launching of the DCF and DCCI headquarters by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg today.

“The proposed nine-storey office towers, one each for DCF and DDCI, will include numerous facilities. Commensurate with its roles in preserving and promoting the Dayak cultural heritage, the DCF Tower will have its own culture exhibition floor featuring a state of the art performing dance studio, conference and meeting floor.

“Meanwhile, the DCCI Tower will be equipped with a business centre to cater to the needs of its members with small or medium businesses in need of a business address and a place to work from through the co-working space facility.

“With the aim of upgrading its members in the digital value chain, DCCI can do so with the spaces for training and mini conferences available.”

According to Allister, the earth-breaking works for the project started early this year and the two towers are currently undergoing the Green Building Certification process.

“The earth-breaking works for the project actually started in February this year and we have applied to the Green Building Certification body to have the two towers certified as ‘Green Building’.

“This will help towards lowering the maintenance and operational cost for the towers. We are also going to plant some trees like the engkabang tree to complement the surrounding areas and to keep in line with the green theme.”

He said that the project also had a residential component which featured condominium and apartment units but with a later completion scheduled.

“The residential component of this project is called the PD Residences which is expected for completion in mid-2023. The Grange is an eleven-storey condominium blocks laid out in two wings which will frame a landscaped courtyard with clubhouse and swimming pool at the center. The 80 condominium units will share a view of the courtyard and Kuching skyline.

“Meanwhile, the 30 units of apartment will be located in The Kapitan which comes with an internal landscaped courtyard that can also be an outdoor lounge and have three bedrooms. These stylish apartments are designed with a modern family in mind.”

According to Allister, The Kapitan paid homage to the late Kapitan Ong Tiong Swee and potential buyers were already interested in the PD Residence.

“We would like to thank the Chief Minister for providing us with the land and financial support in realising our dream of creating an iconic venue. The iconic venue will surely assist in the goal of preserving our Dayak cultural heritage and to promote the involvement of the Dayak community in business.”
