SIBU: To expedite the Covid-19 vaccination of residents in the Tiong Hua and Tong Sang zones, another PPV (vaccination centre) has been set up at the Xin Fu Yuan Methodist Church, Jalan Brooke Drive here.

According to Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Bukit Assek Youth chief Joseph Chieng, the two locations are red zones.

“Mobile vaccination takes quite a long time to vaccinate some 1,000 people within a week.

“Therefore, to speed up the process in both zones, we decided to set up a bigger centre at Xin Fu Yuan Methodist Church.”

Chieng hoped that the PPV would be able to vaccinate up to 3,000 people within the three days of operations (from today until Sunday).

He added that 10 teams of volunteers from non-governmental organisations and churches have been actively moving around the two areas to register the names of residents to receive the vaccine.

“We have also created a special website to make it easier for people to choose their own vaccination appointment time. Every day, there will be 140 slots.

“They just need to go to https://registration.projects.asia/ and choose the day and time.

“The information will then be entered into the MySejahtera app by volunteers at the PPV,” he explained, adding that the first day’s slots (today) were fully filled and only a few slots remained for the second day.

Chieng also noted that although priority was given to residents in the two zones, they would still accept anyone from other zones.
