KUCHING: Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar’s tenure as Speaker of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) has been extended for another three years. He took his oath before Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud at the Astana here today.
Asfia has served as the DUN speaker for 20 years.
The event was attended by Taib’s wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Ragad Kurdi Taib as well as Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and wife Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang.
Also present were Utilities Minister Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom; Minister in the Chief Minister’s Office (Integrity and Ombudsman) Datuk Talib Zulpilip; Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah; Deputy DUN Speaker Datuk Gerawat Gala; Youth and Sports Assistant Minister Datuk Snowdan Lawan; Tourism, Arts and Culture Assistant Minister Datuk Sebastian Ting and Public Service Commission chairman Datuk Abdul Ghafur Shariff.
