KUCHING: The passing of the 2021 Budget in Parliament shows that politicians are able to set politics aside and rise to the occasion to answer the nation’s plea in these uncertain times.

“There would come a time when a politician is confronted with a personal call for duty, commitment, and love for his country which rises above sheer partisan politics.

“This is one such call,” Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Information chief Datuk Idris Buang said today.

“I am proud to see such a fine breed of politicians in my own homeland, who wisely and selflessly chose to bury ‘the hatchets and gauntlets of egocentric political animals’ and instead rose to the occasion to answer the plea of the nation to pass this much needed Bill that could be its very lifeline amidst the uncertainty posed by the current pandemic,” he added.

He said that if the Bill had not been passed, all kinds of ‘uglier and more gruesome faces of instability’ would have shown themselves, to the detriment of the people. The 2021 Budget was passed in Parliament earlier yesterday after Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz completed his winding up speech.
