BETONG: The Youth Wing of Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) who repeatedly disputed the government’s development projects have been described as people who are anti-development.

GPS Youth chief Gerald Rentap Jabu claimed that they deliberately refused to understand the responsibility of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg as the chief executive at the state.

“Abang Johari is the leader of all Sarawakians regardless of race and religion. Therefore, his sincerity and noble efforts to implement various development projects including the Second Main Road and the Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) Complex should be supported.

“However if they (PSB) continue to oppose, their leader’s action will not benefit the people at all,” he said in response to a statement of PSB Youth who questioned the GPS government’s approval the Unifor Complex yesterday.

The Layar assemblyman said that PSB’s stance in such a way shows that they have an implicit agenda.

The people should be aware and it is not the first time PSB had questioned the development struggle brought by the GPS government.

“Previously, they opposed the construction of the Second Main Road despite such a network is very important to connect villages, longhouses, towns and cities throughout Sarawak,” he said, adding that such act shows a very detrimental mentality.

Rentap affirmed that Sarawak’s strength all this while is due to the strong racial unity.

“I am confident that such (unity) spirit will ensure the future wellbeing of our children and our grandchildren. We must continue the struggles of Abang Johari,” he pointed out.

Earlier, PSB Youth questioned the purpose of the development of the approved Unifor Complex at a cost of RM70 million. They claimed that such an allocation is a waste.
