KUCHING: Tupong Assemblyman, Fazruddin Abdul Rahman said empowering the community was an approach that must be activated and mobilised so that the community can work together to implement any programme for the common good.

“Our role in the community is most needed because we know and understand the problems in our village or area,” he said at the closing of the ‘Perangi Dadah Habis-Habisan’ Campaign #PDH2.0 at Medan Niaga Satok, near here, yesterday.

The programme which aimed at mobilising and raising the spirit of the people to hate drugs was participated by 63 people from the Tupong area.

Fazruddin said that the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) of Kuching has planned and implemented various drug-prevention education programmes and activities for the people.

“The collaboration of the AADK with the cooperation of the Federal Agriculture Marketing Authority (FAMA) and Kampung Gita Development and Security Committee (JKKK) need to be continued and become an example to others,” he said.

He added that such approaches need to be expanded so that multi-party roles can be minimised to achieve the desired results.

“We cannot just rely on the government to fight the drug addicts and distribution problem in our area,” he said.
