Antonio Sim is new AAS president

KUCHING: Antonio P. K. Sim is the new president of the Advocates Association of Sarawak (AAS) president for the 2020-2022 term; he succeeds former AAS president Ranbir Singh Sangha.

During the 2020 AAS Annual Delegates Conference recently, elected as the vice-presidents for the new term were Sarbjit Singh Khaira, Wee Wui Kiat, Gurvir Singh Sandhu and Ma Seong Yuin.  David Teo Seng Wee was elected the honorary secretary; he will be assisted by Christine S. H. Lim.

The position of honorary treasurer went to Jacquelyn Hii Shin Law who will be assisted by Eric Lau Lian Jing.

Six others who were elected as committee members were Desmond Sahathevan, Leslie Linton, Dayangku Sa’adiah Awang Hipni, Benny Zaidi Jalil, Lee Jin Wen and Liew Tang Chieh.

Sim thanked past central committee members under the stewardship of Ranbir for their services.

“The new central committee members will endeavour to continue building on the foundation laid by the past members to maintain progress for the betterment of AAS and its members,” he said.

Sim added  amidst  the Covid-19 pandemic, AAS was always available for consultation and looked forward to playing a greater role in shaping the society at large.

“Please do not hesitate to contact  AAS through the respective Bar Room located at the Court Complexes in Kuching, Sibu, Miri and Bintulu if any assistance is required,” he said.
