MIRI: Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau describes Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s claim of having a strong and formidable majority to form a new government as ‘quirky’.

“It was a very strange announcement, when there were no political party representatives or leaders whom he claimed supported him were seen there with him at the press conference on Wednesday afternoon,” Dennis said after presenting Unifor grants to nine churches and a Chinese temple in Telang Usan today.

He noted that Anwar had sparked a series of controversies, and Wednesday’s announcement was not something new that Anwar had made.

“I believe people don’t care much about his announcement. What is crucial is that we rebuild our country’s economy post Covid19,” Dennis pointed out.

He said politicians must put aside their political interests to rebuild the economy post Covid-19.

“I think people are too tired for this kind of controversies, and thank God, we in Sarawak, the leaders are very much focused on bringing development to the rakyat,” he said.

On Wednesday, Anwar has stunned the nation, with his announcement, claiming that he had a ‘strong, convincing and formidable’ support from members of Parliament to form a new government, which according to him meant that the Perikatan Nasional(PN) government led by Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had collapsed.
