SIBU: Personnel from the Civil Defence Force (APM) sprang into action to eliminate a massive hornet’s nest discovered at the Machan police beat base.

In a statement, APM Sibu said they received a call regarding the nest, reported to be as large as the tire of a small car, from members of the public in the area at 7.20pm last night (May 3).

The tyre size hornet’s nest

“A team of three APM personnel were sent to the scene and upon arrival they saw the hornet’s nest attached to the ceiling of the police beat base.

“The size of the hornet’s nest was the size of the tyre of a small car,” APM Sibu said.

APM Sibu said its personnel initiated the process of neutralising the threat by spraying insecticide on the nest.

It took the team roughly 20 minutes to destroy the hornet’s nest.

The operation ended at 8.30pm after ensuring the area was safe.
