APM rescues kitten from drain

MIRI: A kitten, believed to be 11-month old was rescued from a storm drain nearby an eatery premises in Riam Corner this morning after her meowing was heard by one of the premise’s patrons.

Upon hearing the relentless ‘screaming’, the 18 year-old teenage boy went to inspect further on to the sound and was shocked to see the kitten trapped inside the drain.

Prior to the discovery, the boy was having his morning breakfast at the premise with his parents.

He immediately called up the Miri Civil Defence Force (APM) for help.

According to APM Miri officer-in-charge, Captain (PA) Usman Harto, upon receiving the distressed call at 10.33am, they immediately rushed to the scene to rescue the kitten.

It took them for about seven minutes to pull out the trapped kitten from the drain.

The storm drain is about 12 feet below street level.
