KUCHING: All eyes will be on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as he decides his Cabinet in the next few days.

Social activist Voon Shiak Ni has opined that it is imperative for Malaysia’s 10th Prime Minister’s Cabinet to be free from ‘court clusters’.

She added that this would be Anwar’s first challenge to keep his vows to the mandate of the voters.

“For the next few days, all eyes are on his due efforts and the exercise of his prerogative powers in his selection of a team of good, effective and clean people to be in his Cabinet.

“There is no reason or justification open for Anwar to include any people who have numerous corruption charges ongoing in court, such as Zahid Hamidi,” she said in a statement.

She pointed out that to appoint Zahid in the Cabinet would not only fail the people of Malaysia but would also make Malaysia a mockery in the eyes of the world.

Voon said that Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) stance on eradicating corruption and abuse of power and cronyism must remain.

“We are hopeful that the newly minted 10th Prime Minister will be able to exercise his power and discretion without fear or favour.

“To serve the interests of the people and the interests of the people to come first at all times,” she added.
