Appointment letters for Kakus village chiefs soon

KUCHING: Forty-one village chiefs in Kakus Constituency will receive their letters of appointment soon.

Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Native Laws and Customs) Datuk John Sikie Tayai said the appointment letters were to facilitate the administration of respective longhouses.

“The Sarawak government has agreed to give certificates of appointment to respective village chiefs of longhouses that have less than 20 doors,” he explained during his visit to Rh Suai, Sungai Kelawit, Tatau on Sunday (Oct 25).

Sikie said the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) state government cared about the people’s welfare and provided various forms of assistance including loans to longhouses.

He also announced an allocation of RM12,000 to the Rh Suai Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) and RM4,000 to its Women Bureau.

Earlier on, Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS)presented membership letters for 32 individuals to Village Chief Gumbang.
