Arm wrestling championship takes on a local flavour

KUCHING:  The Vendetta Top 8 arm wrestling championship started with a bang to a full house and the added glamour of having the Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Datuk Abdul Karim Hamzah among the crowd of fans and enthusiasts.

The event, which began last night, is being held concurrently with the Premier 101 International Charity Arm Wrestling Championship at Premier 101 commercial centre at 9am this morning with the official launch slated for 7pm this evening.

Organisers of the Vendetta Top 8 arm wrestling championship kept their promise to promote Kuching and Sarawak to their world of fans.

Production teams made fresh promotional videos for their athletes with local content, featuring famous and iconic sights in Kuching City.

Several videos and an image of the event have been spotted trending in Europe with some reports suggesting that one locally-made clip being featured on a network television in the United States featuring superstar arm-wrestler Tim Brennan.

The Iban women’s ngajat costume is now also trending in the world of arm wrestling featuring an Eastern European beauty adorning the costume as her repertoire in her role as a ring girl during the matches on main stage.

Organisers said all their social media feeds were curious about the costume with many enquiring how to purchase the costume.

The event has a typical 10 million viewers from mostly Europe and the United States, South America and now also in South East Asia.
