GEDONG: The Army has planned a total of 17 projects to be implemented here under the Jiwa Murni programme.

Army chief General Tan Sri Zamrose Mohd Zain said the state government had allocated RM1.5 million to bring the projects to fruition.

He said the projects included repairs on 12 dilapidated houses, building of three small bridges, improvement of cemetery and maintenance of the Al Kawthat Mosque.

“In order to make the projects a success, the Army has prepared the manpower and expertise while the state government provides the necessary allocation.”

Gen Zamrose said this at the 88th Army Day celebration at Gedong Community Hall here today.

He added that some of the projects had already been done while the rest were in the works and set to be completed by late April.

Elaborating further on the Jiwa Murni programme, he said the initiative was crafted in conjunction with the 88th Army Day.

“The programme is held in collaboration with the state government in an effort to provide help to the less fortunate.

“In line with this, I express my gratitude to Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and the state government for their continuous support.

“I hope that this close relationship between the Army and the state government will continue for the good of the people and Sarawak as a whole.”
