SIBU: Over 1,000 residents from 42 longhouses in Pasai will be receiving their Covid-19 vaccination with the help of army doctors.

Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Bawang Assan chairman Senator Robert Lau said this is part of the effort by the government to get everyone in the rural areas inoculated.

“The army team consists of soldiers from various battalions throughout Sarawak. They will go from one longhouse to another starting from today until Thursday (15 July).

“The staff members from the State Health Department are also present for this. Many of the residents have been vaccinated,” he said in a statement today (July 13).

He added that the vaccination covers the area under the Pasai Cluster which has caused a major outbreak in Sibu and spread throughout the state from early January.

“Many of the longhouses in this area were placed under the enhanced movement control order over the last few months,” he said.
