MIRI: Police on Saturday (May 1) morning detained a local man for stealing five coconuts from a tree at a house in Lorong 1A, Pujut Padang Kerbau.
Miri Police chief ACP Hakemal Hawari said the 42-year-old suspect was picked up from a house at Jalan Tanjong Batu around 11.20am to help police investigate the case.
A Criminal Investigation Department (CID) team from the district police headquarters here recovered five stolen coconuts from the man’s possession.
The suspect was arrested after the house owner lodged a police report earlier that morning.
Coconuts have been stolen many times before from the complainant’s house, prompting him to lodge a police report.
The case is being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code.
