BINTULU: Tanjong Batu assemblyman Johnny Pang Leong Ming is committed to ensuring that school buildings and facilities in his constituency are properly maintained and functional.

He said this is important to ensure that infrastructure is conducive and teaching and learning are carried out in safe conditions at school.

Pang said that he has identified two facilities that need to be upgraded, namely the parking spaces and the pedestrian walkway that are connected from the front entrance of SMK Bandar Bintulu.

“Before this, I did a site visit to SMK Bandar Bintulu to see the school’s infrastructure that could be improved.

“In fact, yesterday (Wednesday) I visited the pedestrian area of the school to see the project that has now started which is the roof from the entrance to the school for the convenience of the students and teachers,” he said when speaking at the SMK Bandar Bintulu’s Excellent Student Award Session 2022/2023 at Dinner World Restaurant, yesterday.

Earlier, the chairman of the school’s Parents and Teachers Association (PTA), Edwin Wong Ing Hoe said his association would continue efforts to help the school provide facilities such as chairs and tables to ensure a conducive learning environment in the classroom.

He said, it is in line with its role as a platform for parents to help the school create a comfortable and conducive learning environment for students.

According to Wong, close cooperation between the two parties allows all deficiencies to be overcome more easily.

In addition, the PTA also forged ties with outside parties to help the school, such as getting six smart television units for students to use in class.

In addition to academic progress, PTA also always works with schools to ensure the development of students’ personalities so that, “our children can safely continue their lives in an era of technological sophistication full of challenges,” he added.

“Hopefully our dream as parents to see our children succeed in becoming excellent people is achieved in line with the vision and mission of SMK Bandar Bintulu.

“I represent all the PTA committee and will continue to support all programmes organised by the school to drive student excellence,” he said.

In the meantime, Wong believed that the organising of such a programme is in line with the theme “Bandarian Progresif Towards Excellent” which motivates students to continue striving to achieve excellence.

“It is hoped that this kind of programme can continue in the future with an increase in excellent students in addition to being able to raise and enhance the school’s name,” he said.

Also present were the principal of SMK Bandar Bintulu Rubiah Taip, Bintulu District deputy education officer (School Management Sector) Law Siong Lee and school liaison officer ASP Julius Panai Anthony Paru.
