KOTA SAMARAHAN: Muara Tuang assemblyman Datuk Idris Buang urged the people to take part in the immunisation programme to help fight off the Covid-19 virus in Sarawak.

The assemblyman said this at the Kota Samarahan health clinic after he received his first dose of the vaccine today.

“We can travel across our state and country; maybe even around the world. We can go do our jobs like before and move on with life,” he added.

“I want to reassure people that the vaccines are safe to use. I already got my first dose and it felt pretty good. I was excited to receive it,” he said.

The assemblyman also reminded the people to support the immunisation programme because it is free for everyone.

“Please support the immunisation programme to protect ourselves and our family. It is free for every citizen.

“Our chief minister will also work on plans to get the best vaccines for all of us in Sarawak,” he said.

He added that without vaccines, the infection rate will increase and have a profound effect on the economy.

“If there are no vaccines, we will suffer. Our economy will be badly affected, development will be halted, the country will have no money — every country in the world will be badly affected if this continues. We don’t want that to happen,” said Idris.

When asked on the prospect of holding the state election once the vaccination programme is complete, he was confident that it will be held.

“I think we can carry out the state election after all of us are vaccinated. I think it is safe to do so,” he said.
