KAPIT: A fundraising dinner for the Kapit Kidney Patient Association that was earlier scheduled for January is postponed to April this year.

Organising chairman Temenggong Tan Kian Hoo told this to reporters after chairing the fundraising committee meeting yesterday.

He pointed out the postponement was inevitable due to the busy work schedule of Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Jemut Masing making it impossible for him to attend the function in January.

Masing is the patron and guest of honour of the fundraising dinner.

“After consulting the Deputy Chief Minister, we feel that it is proper to postpone the date to April when he is available to officiate at the function. The dinner is to raise fund for kidney patients in Kapit. We hope to contribute as much as possible to help the kidney patients,” said Tan.

Also attending the meeting were members of the committee including Pemanca Yong Thu Fook, Penghulu Sia Shui Poh, Penghulu Wong Kie Ing, Penghulu Lawrence Bandat, Penghulu Abang Hamzah Bolhassan, Penghulu Geruna, Kapitan Yiap Hui Le and Kapitan Kong Cheak He.
