KUCHING: Producing a new generation of educated people remains the main focus for Pantai Damai constituency.

“We want to produce more graduates for the Pantai Damai area and one of our main goals is to have at least one graduate per family.

“We have to prioritise education and make a lot of efforts to ensure that the people are given the opportunity to pursue their education on another level,” said Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Office (Islamic Affairs and DBKU), who is also Assistant Minister of Utilities (Water Supply) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi during an event where he gave educational assistance to a number of people in the constituency on Saturday (Aug 29).

A total of 82 people from Pantai Damai were given the education assistance by the Pantai Damai assemblyman for the Pantai Damai state constituency at the Pantai Damai Service Centre.

He hoped that the education assistance in the form of pocket money could help the students who are pursuing their studies in universities, colleges and other institutions of higher learning.

The event was split into two sessions; the first session was for 38 students at 9.30am whereas the second session was for 44 students at 10am. This was to avoid overcrowding the area and maintaining the required appropriate social distancing.

The education assistance was supposed to be handed out early this year but due to the Covid-19 pandemic it was postponed to the current date.

Also present for the event was the Pantai Damai Education Bureau Committee Rosma Jaimi.
