KUCHING: Marine police here foiled an attempt of transporting more than 700 litres of diesel using a lorry on Monday (Apr 11).

According to the Sarawak Marine Police, the Marine Intelligence Unit spotted the lorry in town and detained it for inspections.

It led to the discovery of 32 plastic drums containing about 767.45 litres of diesel placed at the back of the lorry.

The driver, a local man, failed to produce any documented evidence of permission to possess, store, carry controlled items without a permit or a licence from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP).

Because of that, the driver committed an offence under the Control of Supplies Act 1961.
