KUCHING: An array of handsome lucky draw prizes is up for grabs for participants of ‘Walk-a-Mile’ on September 23 at Saradise Kuching.

They include latest Apple Watch Series 3, return air flight tickets to Ho Chi Minh, smartphones, sports watches, hotel stay vouchers, food and product vouchers, electronic appliances as well as hampers.

This was disclosed by Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian at a press conference with the Sarawak Heart Foundation yesterday.

“The registration fee is RM20 and it comes with Walk-A-Mile T-shirt, balloons (first-come, first-serve basis), breakfast and a ticket for the lucky draw.

“Nestle Products Sdn Bhd has been the faithful sponsor of the official T-shirt and various products,” he said, adding the event will be officiated by the Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud.

According to Sim, free health screening activities such as Body Mass Index, blood glucose, blood pressure, cholesterol as well as health counselling with doctors will also be held from 8am onwards.

Members of the public who intend to do the health screening are advised to fast at least six hours before the finger prick blood test screening for more accurate results.

On another note, the minister said statistics from the National Health Morbidity Survey showed an increasing rate of heart diseases.

“9.6 million Malaysians above 18 are affected with heart problem and an alarming 38.6 percent are not aware of their sickness.

“Please be conscious of your heart health by watching your cholesterol level, blood pressure, weight and stay active, besides refraining from smoking.

“These are simple steps towards a healthy life style and every year,” he stressed, adding the event is expected to draw some 2,000 participants.
